Halloween and turning 8 months old

Published by not4ureyes2c at 6:45 pm under Baby Talk Edit This

For Halloween we dressed my daughter up as Piglet, which in my opinion, was the cutest costume ever! I have some large winnie-the-Pooh and Eeyore stuffed animals so I placed them next to her to add to the cuteness for her monthly photo. Every month on the 5th I take new photos of her for her monthly birthday and on holidays I like to make sure to get a photo as well. I made sure to add the time stamp to the bottom of the photos because no matter how good my memory may be, I wont remember the exact date of all those photos later on. Plus, I’m a new mommy and I’m never going to have time to label each photo with the date and when she’s much older it would be nice to know how old she really was in each photo. (My mom used to place cards with our age next to us when she’d take pictures.)

So here is a photo of my daughter on Halloween dressed as Piglet. I wanted her to be a polar bear but the only costume I could find was online and it was going to cost me 50 dollars. It worked out though because when she was younger (first two or three months) we’d call her Piglet because she’d snort when she was mad and she’d turn bright red.

On Wednesday the 5th she turned 8 months old. She has one front tooth coming in nicely at the bottom and her two front top teeth are still playing peak-a-boo. She’s crawling like crazy and loves to pull herself up to stand using the coffee table or couch. She can transfer from the couch to the coffee table and vise versa and can move slowly around the table to get to items we’ve pushed out of the way.

Friday we bought her some of Earth’s Best Organic Wheat Teething Buscuits. They say for nine months and older but on the back gives a list of ways to know if you’re baby is ready for a teething buscuit so I decided she was ready. It’s so cute to watch her rub it all over her face and put it in her hair. I watch her like a hawk the whole time which is good because yesterday she managed to get a good sized piece off into her mouth and I had to go search for it before she choked. She wasn’t sure what to do with such a large piece because she just sat there looking at me and I could tell she wasn’t chewing or anything.

On Halloween I gave her her first candy; I’m so hesitant and careful not to give her anything with preservatives or artificial sugars but I figured it was Halloween; it was an orange Tootsie Roll Pop. She did the same with this as she does with the teething buscuits; just rubbed it around on her face and made a mess of her costume. I didn’t let her finish it; she may have had it for ten minutes but it barely looked touched. I don’t give her anything like that normally because I know her body doesn’t need it and anything I give her is for my enjoyment, to watch her expressions and in my opinion that is just selfish. Since their tummies are so small (supposed to be the size of their fist) anything bad I give her is just going to take up space and will leave less room for the nutritious stuff. Plus you want to start her out good and healthy, get her into good habbits while she’s young. Sealed I typically get critisised for not giving her junk food which makes me laugh; she’s still so little. Her body isn’t exposed to all the chemicals, preservatives and artificial sugars and can’t digest them like we can. With diabeties on the rise (and common on both sides of our family) you’d think people wouldn’t give me such a hard time. Luckly I’m strong and I stick to what I believe not letting anyone push me around because I know if I gave in I’d feel guilty.

Here is my daughter on her 8 month old birthday. She is such a ham and sits so patiently for her photos, almost always giving me a huge smile. Sometimes she will get distracted but if I sing “Itsy Bitsy Spider” she usually turns towards me and smiles.
