Drama Queen
So I’ve decided I’m going to get my daughter an agent and put her into acting; she’s my little drama queen. When she’s tired she’s especially dramatic and will ball her eyes out if things don’t go her way. She’s seven months old and she already has me figured out. When it’s nap time I will put her down in her crib, and she will pull down the guard and peak a little eye out at me to see if I’m still there. She cries and cries, gives me huge tears and such a sad face until the second I go to reach for her, then instantly the tears are gone. One night while we had friends over she was crying because she was hungry, so I picked her up and said “okay let’s go get some food” and as I’m walking with her towards the steps she gave our guests a big smile as if saying “it worked!”
My husband thinks I’m mean because I love her sad face. when her eyes swell up and turn red, then fill up with tears; her mouth gets big and her lip quivers. Don’t get me wrong, it breaks my heart but at the same time I think it’s so freaking adorable! Her cry alone sometimes makes me want to cry along with her, breaking my heart into millions of pieces.
I can always tell when she’s really tired, if we’re playing on the floor with her toys and she keeps wanting to climb into my lap. She gets extra clingy when she’s ready for a nap. What I hate the most is when I know she’s tired, she rubs her eyes and becomes super cranky and even nursing her she won’t close her eyes or calm down. Then I just have to let her cry enough to tire herself out. So I place her in her crib and lay on the bed where she can’t see me (unless pulling down the guard) and let her cry for a short time. Sometimes I get up and rub her back or sing her a little song to help calm her down.
