When Making Baby Foods

Published by not4ureyes2c under Baby Talk Edit This

Did you know that you needed to cook the babies food before feeding it to them? Everything but banana’s and avocado need to be heated. I bought a vegetable steamer and I add just enough water that it barely touches the bottom of it but does not touch the food and I turn the heat on medium while setting the timer for fifteen to twenty minutes. Make sure you cover the pot while it’s heating otherwise the steam escapes.

You do need to make sure you prepare the food well before cooking too. Buy good quality food and wash both fruits and vegetables thoroughly. Remove the skin or seed if needed and don’t forget to remove the fat from the meat.

You can save the liquid from the steamer to help thin the babies food, otherwise you can use plain water, juice, formula or breastmilk. Breastmilk in my opinion is the best because it will help give the baby a familiar taste and it’s the best thing you can give your baby.

Be sure that when you prepare the foods that you put a small amount into a different dish that you’re going to feed baby. Cover up the rest and either freeze or refrigerate. (You can freeze for a month but refrigerate for only three days.) If baby doesn’t finish the food on the plate you were using you should throw it away. Germs can cause the baby to get sick later.

Also, be sure that when you are heating anything for baby; food or milk. That you don’t use the microwave or stove. This can cause over heating which can lead to hot spots and burn baby’s mouth. Also if you get the food or milk too warm you start to lose nutrients.
